MAJOR EDITS MADE

Ava: Hermione can you zip me up?
It was the night of the Yule Ball and Ava and Hermione were getting ready in their room. Hermione went and zipped up Ava’s long, deep blue dress with a silver design down the front.
Hermione: There you are, all done.
She does a twirl.
Hermione: You look amazing
Ava: Me? Look at you. Those boys won't know what hit them. Especially Viktor Krum.
Hermione: Stop it. Harry's going to have the prettiest girl of the night on his arm.
Ava: Come on you know we are just going as friends. It's not like I'm trying to impress someone.
Hermione: Not even one red haired twin by the name of George Wesley.
Her face went bright red.
Ava: Maybe a part of me was hoping he would ask me. But seriously he and I have barely spoken since that night over the summer.
She remembered the night before the Quidditch World Cup. Once everyone had gone to sleep, George and her ended up snogging on the couch. She barely remembered how they had gotten to that point in the first place.
Hermione: Come on we have to go. We are going to be late.
The two of them headed down to the Great Hall. At the bottom of the stairs Ava met up with Harry and Ron.
Harry: Wow, you look beautiful tonight.
Ava: Why thank you Harry. You look as handsome as ever and Ron you look umm dashing?
He was wearing the pair of robes his mum sent him. They were absolutely hideous.
Harry: Where is Hermione? I thought you two were getting ready together?
That is when she noticed Hermione was no longer behind her.
Ava: She was right behind me?
She looked back up to the stairs and saw Hermione peaking her head out. She was defiantly nervous. Hermione slowly stepped out and started down the stairs. She looked gorgeous. So elegant with her beautiful pink gown on. The boys couldn’t help staring. As she reached the bottom of the steps Viktor Krum was there with his arm extended to her. The linked arms and Hermione waved quickly as they headed inside.
Ron: She's with Krum? No way?
His face was almost as red as his hair.
Ava: If you wanted to go with her you should have asked sooner.
Ron: I did not want to go with her!
Just then Professor McGonagall approached the three of them.
McGonagall: Mr. Weasley, if you would please make your way into the hall. Mr. Potter, Miss. Xavier if you would line up the champions are getting ready to enter.
Harry: Excuse me?
McGonagall: Oh dear did I not tell you? The champions lead the first dance of the night.
Harry gives Ava a worried glanced and she smiles nervously back at him. He then extends his arm to her and they line up with the rest of the champions about to enter the Great Hall.

Ava and Harry enter the Great Hall with all eyes on them. It was a nervous moment for the both of them, but they were able to get through it. As they passed they could here whispers of their peers.
Student 1: Is that Ava Xavier with Harry Potter.
Student 2: Are they a couple?
They did their best to ignore the whispers. As the champions take their places on the dance floor, Ava can tell Harry is clearly not paying attention. He is looking over at Cho Chang and Cedric Digory. Ava knew that he really wanted to take her to the ball but Cedric had already asked. But he needed to focus so they would look like fools.
Ava: Harry take my waist.
Harry: What?
Ava: Take my waist.
He takes hold of her waist just as the music starts. They danced the first number, quite well actually. Once they got into it they really did enjoy it. Ava thought how nice it was to a least be here with her best friend instead of alone and dateless. Soon others began to join in. Once the song ended the two of them went over to get some punch and sit with Ron. He looked absolutely miserable sitting alone there.
Ava: So I am going to get some punch. Do you guys want anything?
Harry: Yeah some punch sounds good.
Ron: No thanks, I'm good.
Ava: Aright then. Be right back.
She made her way over to the punch bowl and grabbed two glasses for Harry and herself. Just as she turned around to go back she saw him. George Weasley stood there, staring at her. He saw that she noticed him and quickly tried to come up with something to saw.
George: Oh umm you look beautiful tonight.
Ava felt herself blushing a bit.
Ava: Thanks. You don't look to bad yourself.
George: Enjoying yourself?
Ava: Yeah. It's been fun. A little weird in the beginning with everyone staring.
George: You did very well.
Ava: Stop, your just saying that.
George: No I mean it.
They stood for a moment in awkward silence.
George: So are here with Harry.
Ava: Yep.
George: Are you two, you know…
Ava: Oh, no. Not at all.
George: Ok. That’s cool… I mean I only ask because I heard some people earlier…
Ava: Nope, just here as friends. Neither of us had a date so…
George: That’s good.
Ava: Yeah. I mean he is a great guy but… Wasn’t a bad dance partner either.
George: You know, I’m not too bad myself.
Ava giggled a bit.
Ava: Is that so.
George: Yeah. Come on let me show you.
With that he took the drinks from her hands and placed them on the table behind them. He then took her hand and led her to the dance floor.

By now the music had picked up and everyone was on the dance floor. The two of them joined right in and had a blast. George though wasn’t as good as he led on but they still had an amazing time. They danced for what seemed like forever. Soon the music began to slow down and George moved clos to Ava. He placed his hand around her hip as she reached her arms around his neck. As they danced the space between them began getting smaller with each passing moment. Finally they were so close that she could feel each other’s breath. Then it was as if time stopped and it was just the two of them. That’s when their lips met and that moment of bliss felt that night at the burrow returned. As quickly as it happened, it was over and when they broke apart they looked into each other’s eyes and knew that it just felt right.

Once the song ended they got off the dance floor. Ava excused herself and headed to the drink table to get something for the two of them. When she got over there is was if everyone had the same idea. The line was way too long so she forgot about the drinks and went back over to George. He saw him talking to Fred and Lee. As she approached them, she could hear them talking.
Fred: Alright I was wrong. She is so into you.
Lee: I didn’t think you had it in you to go dance with her.
George: Dam right I could.
Fred: Ok we owe you. You win.
Lee: Bonus points for the kiss.
Fred: What was the wager again?
She had heard enough.
Ava: Is that all this was to you?
The boys spun around and saw her standing there, hurt written all over her face. This is not what George meant.
George: Ava no, it’s not what it looks like.
Ava: Was this just some wager between the three of you?
She could feel herself getting choked up. Tears began to form in her eyes.
George: No… well maybe at first, but then…
Ava: I don’t want to hear it. And what about this summer? Was that some wager too?
George: No they had nothing to do with this summer. That was real, it all was real.
Ava: How can I believe you after hearing that?
George; Please Ava, just hear me out.
She couldn’t hear it any longer. She didn’t want to break down in front of all of them. She needed to get away.
Ava: I…I can’t right now. I just need some air.
Tears began streaming down her face as she ran out of the Great Hall and into the court yard outside. She felt like such an idiot. How could she let herself be that open with him? She could feel her makeup run down her faces and tears began uncontrollably flowing down her cheeks. She sat on a bench and cried. Suddenly a familiar voice appears.
Voice: Are you alright?
She quickly whipped away her tears and saw none other than Draco Malfoy kneeling down in front of her. Great this is just what she needed now.
Ava: I am fine. What do you want anyway?
Draco: It doesn’t look that way to me.
He sat down next to her on the bench. Ava turns away from him, not wanting him to see her this way. He was bad enough on a normal day. He looked at her, genially concerned. He then saw her shiver slightly, so he removed his coat and placed it around her shoulders. Now Ava was very confused. Why was he being so nice to her? Eventually she couldn’t hold it in any longer. The tears just came out once again. She sobbed as he took her in his arms and held her to his chest. She felt ridiculous, like some child but she couldn’t control herself.
Draco: It’s ok.
He rubbed her back as the tears subsided.
Draco: Now tell my why the prettiest girl at the ball is outside crying.
She sat up once again and looked at him. Did he just say she was the prettiest girl at the ball?
Draco: Someone as beautiful as you should never be thing upset.
He, himself didn’t know why he was telling her these things. They were truly how he always felt about her, but he was always too afraid to tell her. Seeing her tonight, looking so upset made him say anything to see that wonderful smile she always had. His cruelness towards her was always an act, a way to keep himself safe from rejection but now… he didn’t know why, but he just wanted to be there for her. They sat in silence for a moment before she spoke up.
Ava: Thank you.
Draco: For what?
Ava: For trying to make me feel better.
Draco: I'm only saying the truth.
Who was this boy and what had he done with the real Draco? They sat for a while more in comfortable silence, looking up at the stars.
Ava: Why are you doing this for me?
Draco: Because you are so beautiful and I don't want to see you here crying alone when you should be having a wonderful night.
Next thing he knew he couldn’t control himself. He leaned in and kissed her. Surprisingly she kissed him back. They break apart and he takes her once again in his arms. It was a strange feeling for Ava and yet she felt weirdly safe with him in that moment. Finally he broke the silence.
Draco: So did your loser friend Potter figure out that dragon egg yet?
And just like that Ava felt herself crushed yet again. She sat up in disbelief. Did her really just ask about Harry? Her best friend who he happens to hate? Who he would do anything to sabotage him in the competition? It was as if a ton of bricks hit her.
Ava: Really?
Draco: What?
Ava: Was that what this was about? Finding out if Harry figured out his egg? I don't believe you.
She stood up and threw his jacket at him. Before he could even say a word she slaps him across the face and stormed off back into the great hall. Once she was out of view, the tears came right back. She felt so stupid. Twice in one night. She then saw Hermione sitting at the bottom of the stairs crying too. Ava went over and joined her. They sat and cried together. A happy and wonderful night had been turned to shit. It is funny how boys can do that.

Nice continuation of "Now What?". I feel bad for Jenna. First George then Draco; which I believe you captured their characters nicely. Hopefully, George will do the right thing and apologize to Jenna.
